Rees featured in Wales' warm-up victory against Eastern Province Kings on Tuesday—a 34-12 win for the tourists, as reported on by BBC Sport.

His return created a tidal wave of jubilant support, with many of rugby's biggest names publicly congratulating the player. Welsh legend Halfpenny led the tributes:

Rees' quick return to the fold will be of great inspiration to his team-mates ahead of the Test series in South Africa.

With several experienced Welsh campaigners not being able to make the tour due to injury, Rees will be looked towards for leadership and guidance.

Welsh coach Warren Gatland will need the forward's experience at this level to help make this series full-blooded and competitive.
